News Revenue Hub welcomes Paige Hamzik and Michael Grant to consulting team

The News Revenue Hub is excited to welcome Paige Hamzik and Michael Grant as senior revenue growth specialists. They join the Hub today, bringing deep experience helping newsrooms build sustainable business models and better serve their communities.

Hamzik most recently worked at Flytedesk, where she helped student media organizations strengthen their operations and long-term sustainability through coaching, strategy, and revenue development. Earlier in her career, she worked at local news organizations including The Assembly.

In her new role, Hamzik will partner with Hub clients to strengthen their revenue and audience strategies while helping them build sustainable futures. She will also continue to serve as an adjunct professor at the University of North Carolina’s Hussman School of Journalism and Media.

“I’ve always really admired the work the News Revenue Hub has done,” Hamzik said. “I’ve long admired what they do, what they offer, and what they stand for. I can’t wait to get started.”

Hamzik said she’s especially excited to collaborate with newsroom leaders and fellow consultants who are passionate about local journalism.

“I love bringing people together to learn from each other,”  she said. “Journalism is a community and I think building stronger connections — both with each other and with our readers — is really important.”

Grant joins the Hub after six years leading Get Current Studio, where he partnered with local news organizations and publishers of color on product strategy, creative direction, and digital transformation. Grant co-founded the HBCU Collaborative and previously served as a teaching fellow with the Google News Initiative, training newsrooms across the U.S. on digital storytelling tools. He will continue to serve on the board of the Center for Collaborative Journalism at Mercer University.

As a senior revenue growth specialist, Grant will help Hub clients develop sustainable revenue strategies while drawing on his experience in product design, audience engagement, and newsroom transformation.

“News Revenue Hub has been in a lot of the conversations that I’ve had with news organizations over the past six years,” Grant said. “It’s clear their clients really enjoy working with them. I’m excited to join a formidable team with extensive experience and really great industry leadership.”

Grant said he’s looking forward to working alongside colleagues while supporting a broad portfolio of independent news organizations.

“When I saw this opportunity come up, I had a deep conversation with myself about what impact looks like and how I can have the most impact,” he said. “While I’ve helped news organizations achieve great wins through Get Current Studio, I believe I can really grow that impact at a place like News Revenue Hub.”

Abbey Gingras, vice president of consulting services, shared that the Hub originally set out to hire one senior revenue growth specialist. But as the hiring process unfolded alongside strategic planning for the organization’s next phase of growth, leadership recognized an opportunity to expand the consulting team with two exceptional candidates.

“As we looked ahead to where we want the Hub to be in three to five years, it became clear that both Paige and Michael would help us get there,” Gingras said.

“We’re incredibly excited to start working with Paige and Michael,” she added. “Their diverse backgrounds, spanning multiple revenue streams at both legacy and startup organizations, make them the perfect additions to our team of specialists. We know they’ll excel at driving newsroom success with creativity, passion, and a focus on durability.”
